Abu Coffee is the new rising star of Boquete. His coffees are all about purity and elegance of the green-tip Geisha varietal, and this is what you will experience in this classic fully washed lot.
The farm is run by Jose Luttrell, a 3rd generation producer, he has been until recent years, a working engineer who has recently turned his attention to the family farm.
Abu Coffee is situated at 1550 m.a.s.l in the region of Cañas Verdes, in Boquete, in a humid and rainy microclimate typical of the tropical forest. The Geisha trees are grown on the slopes of the Baru Volcano National park in fertile, volcanic soil, rich with organic content and excellent drainage which minimizes erosion. The plantation is protected by shade given by native trees that grow in harmony with abundant local flora and fauna, respecting the environment and biodiversity.
Given its strategic geographic location, sunlight is a key element throughout the whole process. The plantation receives powerful solar radiation, interrupted in the mornings and sunsets by a soft tropical mist and fog.
This lot is a “classic”, it was processed as a “simple” fully-washed with 24h of dry fermentation in parchment, before being washed and rinsed by hands with the clean mountain water, and slowly dried on raised beds for about 20 days.
This lot is all about refinement and vibrancy, you will get the classic jasmine and lemon undertones, with notes of nectarine and green tea. The acid structure is crisp, sparkling and vibrant.
